Diocesan Girls' School is one of the oldest girls' schools in Hong Kong, established by the Anglican Church in 1860, initially named "Diocesan Female Training School" with the aim of providing educational opportunities for underprivileged girls. In 1866, it was renamed "Diocesan Girls' School." The school was originally located on Bonham Road and Eastern Street on Hong Kong Island, before relocating to its current site on Jordan Road in 1913. With increasing student numbers, several buildings were constructed during the 1950s. During World War II, the school buildings were occupied by Japanese forces, but after the war, the school was quickly rebuilt and resumed operations under the leadership of the first principal, Miss Gibbins. After converting to a Direct Subsidy Scheme school in 2005, the school began a series of expansion and facility upgrade projects. The major reconstruction project completed in 2007 expanded the campus area to 44,000 square meters, with a 10-story main building featuring first-class facilities. Diocesan Girls' School's academic curriculum system covers both junior and senior secondary stages, providing students with diverse learning options. In Forms 1 to 3, students learn foundation courses including English, Chinese, Mathematics, and Science; in Forms 4 to 6, students can choose 3 to 4 elective subjects in preparation for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examination. Additionally, the school also offers General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A-Level) courses for some students to choose from.
